Urdu needs to be promoted at grassroots level: Sibal
 
 
 

NEW DELHI (NVONEWS): Speaking at National Council for the Promotion of Urdu language (NCPUL), Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Kapil Sibal said that Urdu needs to be promoted among the grassroots, and that this could be done by exposing people to the culture, films, art and music associated with Urdu. Urdu should play a part in Information and Technology too.

Praising Hamidullah Bhatt, director of NCPUL Kapil Sibbal said that Council is doing a very good job under the chairmanship of Hamidullah Bhatt. He advised the people concerned with Urdu to work on grass root level and not just on paper. Kapil Sibbal said that Urdu has played and is playing a very important role in our lives.

External Affairs Minister E Ahmad who was also present at the conference, that in a program organised in Calicut about 1200 students were present. He said this was a testimony of the good work being done by the NCPUL for the promotion of Urdu language. The language, he said, is not limited to those whose mother tongue is Urdu, but is popular among those too who don’t speak it as their first language.

Member Parliament Zafar Ali Naqwi said that NCPUL has given new lease of life to Urdu. Waseem Brailwy, vice president NCPUL also spoke a few words.

On this occasion Hamidullah Bhatt, director of NCPUL presented details about computer centres that the NCPUL has opened all over the country and described it’s activities through an audio video presentation. He also requested Kapil Sibbal to authorize the courses of NCPUL.
